Adilabad Adivasis to visit Hyderabad on education tour

Hyderabad: Adivasi communities from Adilabad district will soon visit Hyderabad on an ‘education and exposure tour,' aimed at familiarising them with the state capital's heritage and modern infrastructure. The itinerary includes visits to heritage monuments, skyscrapers, the metro rail network, cricket stadium and other major sporting facilities.Tourism minister Jupally Krishna Rao announced the initiative during his visit to Utnoor mandal on Saturday, where he interacted with Gond tribal families at Kummarikuntala hamlet and briefed them about the proposed tour. He said the state govt would bear the entire cost of the visit. Addressing the gathering, the minister said that while Adilabad is often referred to as ‘mini Kashmir,' many Adivasi communities remain disconnected from developments outside the region. "To inspire the youth, they will be shown professional sporting facilities for cricket, volleyball and badminton. The community should see the development that has taken place," he said. Emphasising the need to improve living standards in tribal hamlets, the minister said all basic amenities would be ensured. He described education as the most powerful instrument of social change and urged adults to learn to sign their names to safeguard themselves against exploitation. Calling self-reliance through education a tribute to freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Ramji Gond, he assured free slates, books, uniforms and study material for students, along with focused support for food, shelter, education and healthcare. Blankets were also distributed to elderly members of the community.
